The Rusty Haggis Community Radio is a child-led, non-profit community radio station based in Leicester, run as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
We give children and young people across Leicestershire — including those from underrepresented backgrounds, home-educated young people, and those with additional needs — a real platform to be heard. Through hands-on workshops in schools and youth spaces, they learn presenting, producing, and storytelling skills, then put them into practice on live shows (weekdays, 8am–5pm) and on-demand podcasts covering everything from local news to creative audio and wellbeing.
By handing young people the microphone, we help build their confidence, communication skills, and sense of belonging — while celebrating Leicestershire's culture and keeping community radio alive for everyone.
